Buddhist View - Dissolving the Roots of Anxiety

Wed August 23rd
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

A talk with Keith Rowan

The Buddha taught that the cause of all our difficulties is avidya. This Sanskrit word is often translated as ignorance but maybe better as misconceptions, misunderstandings, incorrect knowledge or ‘not seeing.’ It’s not that we don’t understand things like nuclear physics but rather we are habitually ignoring or failing to examine what is right in front of us. In the case of anxiety, its roots lie in areas of our behaviour we have not examined. We react to circumstances from a habitual base of misunderstanding. Keith’s talk will explore some of the roots of anxiety and show how seeing them in itself leads to relief from anxiety’s hold.
